The figures seriously, and they are one of the reasons why the wages have stagnated, experts say.
From 2003 to 2010, the average number of joint California families and their employers pay for health coverage, which rose 52 percent, reaching $ 13,819 per year, according to a study recently released by the Commonwealth Fund.
Their premiums soared 46 percent, to $ 4,811, while their revenues remained flat.
The company is still paying most of the cost of such but the more telling employees to shoulder a larger share.
Many employees also find they suddenly had a new co-pays, the higher deductibles and other cuts in health benefits as companies struggle to control costs.
